Yeovil District Hospital 'Garden of Life'
We were delighted to be asked to design the 'Garden of Life' for Yeovil District Hospital in 2013, and to donate time to this project. The brief was to create a garden to raise the awareness of the importance of organ donation, and to provide a place for people to reflect, remember and celebrate the gift of life.
We designed the garden as an outdoor 'room' for people to enjoy within the busy town enviroment. A contemporary pergola adds a sense of privacy, and the seating areas include space for wheelchairs or buggies. The plants were chosen to surround visitors with bold colour from spring to late summer. Beautiful trees provide shade, autumn colour and shape to the garden.
We were excited to be able to work with the local community, both the staff within the hospital and the local businesses and suppliers who supported the project. As well as designing the garden, we supplied and planted the plants, and Gregorys Landscapes undertook the construction work.
The garden is open to the public, and is located behind the Women's Hospital, so please call in if you are passing!
